Thursday, 04 February 2010

New Canaan, Connecticut - Bridge Foundation, the New Canaan, Connecticut based humanitarian relief organization announced its fourth humanitarian air shipment to assist those affected by the unprecedented earthquake which struck Haiti.

The Bridge Foundation and Tine Ward, (Founder of The Darfur Project), successfully joined forces once again on a mission to Haiti last week. Fulfilling a commitment to The Clinton Global Initiative for 2009/10, Tine Ward mobilized resources through the extraordinary generosity and personal interest of Natasha Ziff enabling Bridge to put together 41,000 pounds of essential drugs, medical supplies and biomass fuel, low-emissions cooking stoves which were airlifted to Haiti on Friday.

Andrew Hannah and Tine Ward travelled with the flight from Miami to Port au Prince on Friday January 29th. Working with International Medical Corps on the ground in Haiti, Stephen Skakel and Tine Ward delivered the medicine to the University Hospital (Port au Prince's primary hospital) and to a number of the mobile clinics set up by IMC throughout Port au Prince and affected areas.

Bridge Foundations fifth air shipment to Port au Prince, Haiti is scheduled for the second week of February in continuation of its efforts to assist the Haitian people.  We will continue to work with our in-country partners, IMC and WFP, to provide relief help that is critical to their needs.

"Bridge Foundation is proud to deliver much needed supplies to aid the people of Haiti during this difficult time. We are especially grateful to Natasha Ziff and Tine Ward  whose generosity makes our work possible," said Andrew Hannah, Bridge Foundation Chairman.  ²Bridge Foundation continues to monitor the situation in Haiti to meet the ever-changing needs of our partners on the ground².

Bridge Foundation was founded in 2002 and has provided emergency aid to Afghanistan, Iraq, Congo, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Indonesia, Jamaica and Lebanon, Pakistan, Burundi, South Sudan, Liberia, Syria, Myanmar, Cameroon, Uganda and Ethiopia.
