Update: New Canaan’s Bridge Foundation delivering assistance to Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China for those devastated by the recent earthquake.
New Canaan, CT – Bridge Foundation, the New Canaan, Connecticut-based humanitarian relief organization announced its 1st shipment for the victims of the earthquake. The shipment will go from Bridge Foundation’s warehouse in Amsterdam to Beijing for onward carriage to Chengdu Airport. The supplies will help victims of the recent earthquake that has brought the death toll to more than 40,000 with thousands more still missing. Bridge Foundation’s shipment included urgently needed antibiotics and sutures that will arrive in the coming days to Chegdu.

The shipment is scheduled to depart on Monday May 19th from the Netherlands. Bridge Foundation will be partnering with Manual C. Menendez, Chairman of MCM Group Holdings and 8M8 LLC who has been active in China for almost 30 years and one of his clients, City University of Seattle, who were instrumental at making the shipment to Chengdu happen. "When disaster strikes and people are in need it is the responsibility of those who are capable to respond quickly and without political agendas......we must ease the suffering of others with giving and compassion” said Mr. Menendez. The shipment will be consigned to Chengdu Children’s Hospital with the assistance of Sichuan Airlines.
Donations are requested to assist in providing additional support to the region. Days after the devastating 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck, more than 147 aftershocks have been registered which continue to cause concern for those responding to the unprecedented disaster.
Bridge Foundation is also working on further shipments to depart in the coming days.
