Bridge Foundation began its response to Hurricane Katrina on Sunday August 28, 2005 by placing an advance team in Tallahassee Florida prior to Katrina’s landfall the following morning.  Initial efforts included providing high capacity generators to emergency management authorities in Gulfport, Long Beach and Pass Christian, Mississippi.  For some two weeks following the disaster, the Bridge Foundation supplied generators provided power for the Harrison County emergency operations center, the county 911 communications and water systems.

In the weeks after Katrina, Bridge Foundation supplied project management services in support of a program sponsored by Diageo North America to provide housing, employment, and educational counseling to those displaced by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.  The program offered these during a four month period from September 2005 through January 2006 in several locations including Mobile Alabama, New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Houston Texas.
