Connecticut Foundation send aid to war-torn Lebanon

Update:  New Canaan’s Bridge Foundation delivering assistance to Lebanon in response to those affected by ensuring conflict.

New Canaan, CT – Bridge Foundation, the New Canaan, Connecticut-based humanitarian relief organization continues to assist those affected by hostilities in Lebanon.

 

Lebanon had been struggling to get back on its feet after more than twenty years of civil war that has devastated the country. Great strides had been made after the April 2005 ‘Cedar Revolution’ in getting Lebanon on the path to freedom and development.  With more than 500,000 refugees remaining in Lebanon from the civil war has caused great strain on the healthcare infrastructure to the point of collapse.  The current round of fighting between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters in the south have set Lebanon back decades.

Bridge Foundation will deliver a variety of urgently needed pharmaceuticals and medical supplies through the Committee Emergence Ministiere du Sante and local NGO’s.  Included in these shipments will be a WHO (World Health Organization) Emergency Health Kit designed to meet the basic medical needs of 10,000 people for 90 days.  Additional supplies include a variety of antibiotics, antibacterials, bandages, casting material, gloves and multivitamins.

The shipment will travel from Amman, Jordan via Jordanian Air Force provided transportation directly into Beirut International Airport. Flights are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday August 29 & 30th.
