Update: Bridge Foundation Announces Immediate Mobilization to Respond to Approaching Hurricane Rita Prior to Landing on the Texas Coast.

New Canaan, CT – Bridge Foundation is responding to the threat that Hurricane Rita is imposing on the Texas coast.  An advance team will arrive Friday morning into Houston, Texas to monitor the approaching storm.  Initial response efforts will include providing high capacity generators to local emergency authorities.  The generators are currently in transit to Houston, Texas.

New Canaan, CT – Bridge Foundation began its response to Hurricane Katrina on Sunday August 28, 2005.  An advance team arrived in Tallahassee, Florida prior to the hurricanes arrival the following morning.

Within 36 hours of the onslaught of Hurricane Katrina, Bridge Foundation generators were powering the main Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in Gulfport, Mississippi.  The EOC is located at the Harrison County Courthouse.

New Canaan, CT – Bridge Foundation began its response to Hurricane Katrina on Sunday August 28, 2005. An advance team arrived today in Tallahassee, Florida prior to the hurricanes arrival the following evening. Initial efforts will be two high capacity generators that are in transit to New Orleans, Louisiana.

New Canaan, CT –  Bridge Foundation, the New Canaan, Connecticut-based humanitarian relief organization announced it is sending an air shipment to Lebanon. The medical supplies will be shipped from Bridge Foundation’s warehouse in Amsterdam. Lebanon struggles to get back on its feet after more than twenty years of civil war that has devastated the country.  Continuing civil unrest and more than 500,000 refugees have strained the healthcare infrastructure to the point of collapse.

When it comes to liquor giant Diageo’s global commitment to social causes and civic involvement, you might say it all comes down to a hill of beans.

“A major staple of the diet in the Dominican Republic is red beans, of which there are four grades. But only Grade A is permitted for food, even in a disaster. If you don’t know that and send Grade B, they sit  in a warehouse and don’t get to the people who need them,” says Guy Smith, executive vice president of corporate relations at Diageo North America, whose drinks portfolio includes Smirnoff, Guinness, Johnnie Walker, Cuervo and Beaulieu Vineyards.
